There’s got to be a word for the mindset you bring to faithfully following a story-driven webcomic you know is never going to reach any sort of satisfactory conclusion because the author staunchly refuses to acknowledge that the pace of their writing is incompatible with the pace of their update schedule, but for the life of me I can’t think of what that word is.

I’m split 50/50 on whether this is about homestuck or not.

I’m more talking about the kind of webcomic whose creator repeatedly devotes fifty pages to a single action sequence or exchange of dialogue in spite of the fact that they know darn well their sustainable update schedule amounts to twenty or thirty pages a year.

(Also, I know this complaint is old hat to anyone who’s been following this blog for any length of time, but it still kills me that every time I mention webcomics with slow update schedules, someone inevitably insists that I’m obviously talking about Homestuck, when the reality is that Homestuck had one of the most extraordinarily rapid update schedules of any webcomic on record, even accounting for all the hiatuses.)
