IN THE wild, green iguanas are generally arboreal and spend a lot of time in trees, and they use these huge claws to hang onto branches! you can see this kind of toe length in a lot of larger tree lizards - heres an emerald tree monitor and caiman lizard for comparison ……

its VERY pronounced on green iguanas because of their size. my feet look like this also
